Our excursion will begin at Kanoni, the place that attracts the most attention due to its breathtaking views and delightful surprises. You may discover more about the history of Corfu by visiting the ancient Temple of Artemis in Kanoni and the historic Corfu town that goes back to the eighth century BC.
Corfu Town is located on a narrow peninsula that lies halfway down the island’s east coast. Its location was chosen for its natural harbor and two peaks that were ideal for fortress construction. Two majestic castles that had sweeping views of the sea and the Greek mainland defended the little medieval town that developed during the Angevin era (1267–1388), which was encompassed by high defensive walls. Nonetheless, Corfu Town truly thrived during the Venetians, who ruled for around 400 years (from 1386 to 1797).
Spianada Square is our next stop. According to reports, it is the Balkans’ largest square. There, you may go sightseeing, visit the historic district, sample local cuisine, or purchase some trinkets or goods from the neighborhood stores.
